Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers

Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers

So the guys over at Lakers Blog are saying that there’s a report that Lamar Odom is close to signing with the Miami Heat although nothing is decided just yet. This is so ridiculous! The Lakers want Lamar Odom back and Lamar wants to come back. So money is currently still the issue but why can’t Jerry Buss just back off a bit and compromise with Lamar? Sure Dr. Buss is a little pissed off that Lamar’s team ignore the inital offer but in the grand scheme of things, that’s not THAT big a deal.

The important thing is winning another championship while still offering Lamar a decent salary. Lamar is one of the best players for the Lakers. He’s the wildcard because he can do just about anything and he’s the powerhouse off the bench. Without him, the Lakers bench will not be all that strong. Lamar is a valuable player and the Lakers administration should treat him as such.

It was reported that Dr. Buss wants to lower his initial offer because Lamar didn’t respond to it in the beginning. In all honesty, why do that? Just to prove a point or just be plain stubborn? Either way, both sides of this situation need to open up their eyes and really decide what they really want. It’s entirely possible for the Lakers to keep Lamar and possibly give him something very close to the salary he’s looking for. Just get pass the drama and see that both sides ultimately want the same thing. I can only hope that the next bit of news I hear will be about Lamar signing with the Lakers.

P.S. In case you guys don’t know… the guys over at Lakers Blog came up with the acronym L.O.C.O. which stands for Lamar Odom Contract Omni-Watch.

Dreamless

Midnight Dreams

Dreams have always been a great source of story material for writers. A good imagination and vivid, interesting dreams always tend to develop into stories one way or another. For me, I used to have a bunch of wild and bizarre dreams. I have written several stories based off my dreams. Just trying to make sense of the symbolism in dreams have always interest me. Unfortunately over the last several months or so, I noticed that I haven’t really dreamt when I sleep.

I’m not really sure why I haven’t had all that many dreams lately. I really enjoy dreams because every night is a new adventure. I never really know what to expect and I’m actively taking note should this new dream be good source material for another story.  I kinda miss not dreaming that much.

It could be due to any number of things. Every since I started working after college, I haven’t had time to read. I used to read a lot of books and comic books. Reading stimulates the mind and exercises the imagination. So it helps get the creative juices in my head flowing. The last book I read was almost a year ago. It was Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips which was a really funny book. I read it during a very stressful point in my life. It was a great read and just a nice little escape from the stress of the world. So since then I haven’t read much. I’m in the process of reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman but I’m only 100 pages in so it’s still in the beginning. I’m sure if I started reading again my imagination will kick start.

The other issue is stress. I’ve been stressed over just life in general and it just drains my mind of creativity. I guess it could be with a heavy load on the mind, it’s kind hard to be imaginative and creative during sleep. The mind is taking a much needed rest so just silence and peaceful would take precedence over dreaming. Makes sense…

One of my goals for the future is to relieve some stress and read more. Being dreamless is really no fun. Having all those dreams at night really make a difference. It may help improve the creativity of my writing too.

I’ve been planning to launch my own website for quite some time but just never really had the time to do it. I’ve attempted to created several blogs several times over the years but have since abandoned most of them. It’s mostly because life just gets in the way but this time will be different. The sites and blogs I’ve done in the past were always about something I’m interested in but I never had one that is about me. So that’s how PeterKLam.com came about.

I really wanted to have the domain PeterLam.com but somebody already bought that domain. I was pissed because I went to that site and found that there was absolutely nothing on there. It’s like a placeholder. I didn’t bother emailing the owner and trying to buy it off of them. With the economy as it is, I’m sure the owner of that domain would attempt to sell it to me for an outrageous price. So I had to settle for PeterKLam.com

In an effort to get my name out there about my creative writing and internet marketing skills, I’m going to have to SEO “Peter K. Lam” now so that people can find me. I was thinking that maybe “P.K. Lam” would be better but I reminded me too much of “R.L. Stine” whom I no longer enjoy as a writer. Plus Peter K. Lam will make me appear more like a person and not just somebody with a pen name.

I decided to name my new site “Simply Everything” because… well… it’ll be about simply everything! I have many interests and I write about so many things from commentary on television to opinion pieces to just plain rants/ramblings. I’ve dipped my hands into so many different facets of the world that I have gain such a variety of skills that I felt “Simply Everything” truly sums up what I’m about.  I had a bunch of other possible titles I was toying with but none of them really made sense for me. “Simply Everything” was the best and most interesting name for my new site.

So over the next few days I’ll be looking over my fiction work and see what I should publish on here to populate the site. I have a lot of fiction but a lot of it was written so long ago that it may need heavy editing. LOL!! Oh well, some of the better stuff from recent years will probably be good to go up whenever I’m ready.

I hope that next week I’ll be able to start working on HaloCityTribune.com which will be a fictional online publication. It’s based off some old comedy pieces I used to do as a kid. I recently found hard copies of my hand-written, self-published comedy magazine which was what inspired me to start the new website. I haven’t written for a long time so this will definitely be a good way for me to get back into the groove of things.
