The original V miniseries aired way back in 1983. I was just one year old when it premiered… LOL!! Nevertheless, I was able to watch the original series back in the day. I think I watched it when it became a TV series for a short while. I remember being really interested in the show. It had these strange aliens dressed like Nazis and they were secretly reptilian. They tried to enslave humanity. It was a very interesting and original concept. I was really surprised to find out earlier this year that V is being revamped for a whole generation and will air this fall!!
I haven’t read too much about the new V but from what I’ve heard from others, it’s pretty good. People that went to the San Diego Comic-Con International convention this past July were able to watch a screening of the pilot and they enjoyed it. As for me, I watched a very short preview of the show months ago. It was probably three or four minutes and I wasn’t all that impressed.
The “visitors” no longer dressed in the stringent, militarist attire. Instead they dressed in these very bland uniforms that resemble that of commercial airline stewardesses. Needless to say, it was not flashy, cool or flattering. Sound my first impression is not that good but I’m willing to give this show a chance. I only saw a few minutes but with so many people praising the show, I’m sure there must be some merit to their claims.
Sci Fi Wire reports that ABC is tweaking the pilot which was screened at San Diego Comic-Con. The main focus of the editing is the fight scene between the humans and the visitors near the end of the hour. I’m surprised to hear that there’s a fight scene in the pilot! From what I recall about the original series, the fights were not brought into play until about the third or fourth episodes. Most of the first episodes was exposition building toward the climax. It’ll be interesting to see how this new version of V will fare with this new generation. Will it meet expectations or will it fall flat? I hope that it’ll do exceptionally well!
